POSITION SUMMARY:

The Corrosion Engineer at Amerapex specializes in developing and implementing strategies to mitigate or prevent corrosion to machinery. Collect and analyze technical specifications issued by industry specific regulatory bodies such as EN and ISO. Assesses, maintains, and improves the performance of machinery assets on client sites. The engineer develops, optimizes, and implements equipment strategies to prevent corrosion; Uses critical thinking and problem-solving skills, effectively communicates, coordinates projects, and works well with team members on and offshore in a fast-paced environment. For the Texas and Gulf Coast region, the Engineer will guide efforts to ensure corrosion mitigation efforts and maintenance of site equipment and assets.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Conduct detailed corrosion and materials studies, failure investigations into material and corrosion issues in accordance with prescribed or approved failure investigation procedures.
  • Conduct corrosion failure analysis and assist Client engineers with corrosion anomalies and failures.
  • Ensure effective data management, provide technical assessment and interpretation of corrosion/inspection monitoring data.
  • Recommend changes in corrosion criticality analyses.
  • Ensure regulatory and client standard compliance, ensure implementation of client corrosion management control strategies.
  • Assist with corrosion input on planned Turnaround programs. Ensure HSE risk implications of integrity issues are clearly identified and assessed for consideration by the client.
  • Liaise with material and equipment suppliers for technological advancement insights to yield suggestive relevant corrosion prevention strategies.
  • Define anti-corrosion strategy using CP/coating/painting/chemical treatment/corrosion resistant alloy and other preventive efforts to optimize quality and costs.
  • Derive engineering corrosion philosophy documentation; Pipeline and topside equipment review while utilizing equipment/electrical/instrumental engineering disciplines.
  • Seamlessly transfer corrosion strategy in parallel to CP/painting and coating design; Design of chemical treatment and CRA.
  • Effectively perform corrosion failure analysis upon project/asset requests.
  • Interface with installation engineering functions and solve anti-corrosion issues.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Extensive experience in evaluating materials and machinery development at assess performance on specialized equipment design and functionalities.
  • Onsite experience working with pumps, compressors, turbines, and related equipment types. Development of new uses and anti-corrosion strategies for known materials; Working knowledge of composite materials and single material types such as graphite, metal, alloys, ceramics, glass, plastics, polymers, and natural materials.
  • Must be well versed in corrosion engineering applications and specialized technologies. Able to communicate anti-corrosion methodologies and techniques effectively.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of engineering acumen; Positive attitude and ability to exercise sound judgment in adverse field situations.
  • Ability to demonstrate conceptual ideas into functional programs; Direct work to others and conduct multiple projects/programs in parallel.

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering. Specialization in corrosion engineering preferred.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in process or utilities industries such as petroleum refineries, chemical process plants, or manufacturing plants.
