POSITION SUMMARY:

The Project Cost Accountant will audit, oversee and analyze past and current proposals/bids for expenditures and purchases within the organization to ensure profitability projections are met. Liaise with various departments including finance, accounting, field services, and supply chain to extract quantitative details for proposal/bid accuracy. Our Project Cost Accountant will use problem-solving skills, self-starts, personable, effectively communicates, coordinates projects, has a working knowledge of excel and a willingness to learn new applications; Works well with team members in a fast-paced environment, multi-tasks with flexibility, is creative and enthusiastic.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Develop and maintain cost accounting system, documents, and records of the company either within current ERP or conventional methods.
  • Ensures project profit objectives are met including cost, schedule, and scope by delegating corporate strategy to relevant field services management and colleagues to track and quantify execution of assigned projects in accordance with specifications, standards, and applicable margins.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain department to review goods/services, data records, and advise on cost-efficient and feasible cost options; Recommend cost saving strategies.
  • Prepare and complete internal cost audit projects; Report findings to upper Management.
  • Accurate schedule and cost reporting of assigned projects, including estimating, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Responsible for strong change management control; Liaise with internal and external relevant parties for cost accounting purposes to accurate generate metrics on all projects in accordance with upper management strategies.
  • Successfully liaise with internal and external partners in various disciplines including operations, inspection, engineering, document control, accounting, supply chain, executives and all other related departments.
  • Report to and liaise with corporate office in Houston, Texas through continuous updates using verbal and written reporting.
  • Analyze data and any changes to cost of goods/services to determine the project cost effects.
  • Present upper Management reports of factors affecting prices and profitability of goods/services.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and cost systems with the ability to work independently; Calculated decision maker who substantiates actions with constructs aligned with corporate audit strategies.
  • Collaborates effectively in a multi-location cross-functional team setting with able to leverage each member’s role, responsibility, and character.
  • Drive cost accounting projects to completion through full cycle agile delivery of upper Management audit requests for past projects; Accurately represents metrics for current proposals/bids for multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Strong analytic acumen, able to work under pressure, and meet firm deadlines.

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field of Business Administration. CPA a plus.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Cost Accounting with audit collaboration in the form of project profit margins and controls.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP for financial statements with ability to effectively collaborate with F&A teams.
  • Strong MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint).
