POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Mechanical Integrity implements the corporate strategy for the company’s Mechanical Integrity Program; This business leader will provide enterprise level direction and oversight to the organization and its partners in the program. The Director will effectively collaborate with Executive Management in a fast-paced environment and multi-task with flexibility while providing professional development to company mechanical integrity team members.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Develop effective mechanical integrity strategies for clients and partners.
  • Provide leadership and supervision of the corporate mechanical integrity department, including Engineers covering mechanical, corrosion, materials and inspection SMEs.
  • Support business development units with identifying projects and building project plans/proposals.
  • Supervise work priorities, performance evaluations and development programs for the corporate mechanical integrity department.
  • Develop, maintain and continuously improve key mechanical integrity and engineering functions including but not limited to: Systemization, circuits, piping classification based on H&M balance sheets, corrosion control documents, corrosion material diagrams, damage mechanism reviews, inspection strategies and test plans, risk based inspection, fitness for service, finite element analysis, integrity operating windows, reliability, availability and maintainability studies, and software implementation.
  • Provide technical assurance through programs including regulation requirements, industry standards, applicable industry codes and recommended practices.
  • Track, analyze and report on metrics relative to project performance and trends; Set future direction of mechanical integrity program and improvements.
  • Lead site audits aligned with industry and internal company required standards.
  • Effectively contribute and participate in leading industry groups (API, NACE, etc.) and communicate emerging technology, industry trends and significant events.
  • Promote standardization across all company locations for consistent performance in mechanical integrity, reliability and inspection/NDE.
  • Develop and participate in company training programs/initiatives for engineers, inspectors, and maintenance craft on mechanical integrity fundamentals, legal requirements, industry codes/standards.
  • Be the subject matter expert for National Board, ASME, and API code interpretations as they relate to equipment and systems; State requirements of codes.
  • Review and identify advancements in technology to increase efficiency, safety and productivity; Make recommendations based on industry tech trends.
  • Provide operations and maintenance business units technical support and ensure alignment with mechanical integrity site goals.
  • Advise EPC department on projects for construction and interpret industry standards.

EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Specialty in corrosion, metallurgical, materials, mechanical or chemical preferred.
  • 15+ years leading mechanical integrity programs in a refinery or chemical processing facility; Corporate equivalent acceptable; 5+ years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Detailed working knowledge and training relevant to NACE/API/ASME codes and standards.
  • Demonstrated understanding of OSHA PSM compliance.
  • API 571 and/or 580 certifications preferred.
  • Experience in maintenance and turnarounds preferred.
