POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accountant will have experience in full cycle general ledger accounting and will be responsible for general accounting functions in the accounting department.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises clerical personnel as needed.
- Assists in training clerical personnel.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs general accounting functions and other related duties.
- Direct involvement with month-end close procedures including the preparing account reconciliations, journal entries and other supporting/tracking schedules.
- Verifies and ensures timely payment of vendor invoices and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Monitors invoicing process and analyzes accounts receivable aging schedules for customer collections.
- Assists in performing cash management functions such as the monitoring and recording of cash transactions, preparation of wire transfers and bank account reconciliations.
- Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts to ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Assists with preparation of supporting schedules and documents needed for external audit.
- Perform ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP standards as well as internal controls.
- Experience with QuickBooks and/or NetSuite.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively with outside customers and external auditors.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- One to two years of general accounting experience required; public accounting experience a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
