POSITION SUMMARY:
An Amerapex Rotating Equipment Engineer assesses, maintains, and improves the performance of the rotating equipment assets on client sites. The engineer develops, optimizes, and implements equipment strategies; Uses critical thinking and problem-solving skills, effectively communicates, coordinates projects, and works well with team members on and offshore in a fast-paced environment. For the Texas and Gulf Coast region, the Engineer will guide efforts to ensure reliability and maintenance of site equipment and assets.
JOB DUTIES:
- Multi-disciplinary project support for the execution of preventive maintenance on rotating equipment for reliability and prevention of unforeseen failures; Use appropriate predictive condition monitoring technology.
- Responsible for guiding management and organizational partners from the field/site on critical equipment conditions; Lead specialized areas to support company assets or programs using strong technical skills and predictive maintenance acumen.
- Analyze facilities, equipment histories, and trends; recommend and implement procedures, strategies, equipment, or designs that will minimize/eliminate defects and improve fixed equipment operations.
- Exercise corporate and site policies, procedures, and applicable government regulations; Coordinate reliability program improvements and metrics in support of site maintenance activities for rotating machinery.
- Develop engineering solutions for repetitive failures using modeling and prediction; Identify, define, estimate (using budgets when applicable), and execute rotating machinery turnaround maintenance activities, improvement, and relief projects within the region.
- Provide technical support and leadership to production, maintenance management, and technical personnel; provide safety leadership by exceeding the annual safety target initiatives; Perform tasks as a safety role model for behavior and demonstrate practical knowledge of the operations.
- Liaise with management and staff onsite to define, prioritize, and execute programs, initiatives, and other tasks that support the reliability and mechanical integrity plant goals.
- Perform in-depth reviews of rotating equipment and make operational recommendations for corrections. Lead change efforts for design engineering, maintenance procedures, preventive maintenance, and life cycle cost analysis.
- Establish and maintain accurate status of all mechanical equipment with historical data; Communicate plant equipment issues and findings to operations and maintenance.
- Participate and advise in developing plans for major shutdowns, rotating equipment overhauls, construction or alteration projects where mechanical inspections will be critical.
- Provide inspection services at contractor shops to ensure the quality of new and overhauled equipment.
- Ensure successful performance of investigations to identify and eliminate the root cause of failures.
- Ensure implementation and adherence to company rotating asset strategy templates.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Extensive experience in rotating equipment controls and anti-surge protection.
- Onsite experience working with pumps, compressors, turbines, and related equipment types.
- Working knowledge of vibration monitoring equipment.
- Must be well versed to articulate equipment maintenance troubleshooting in a dynamic environment requirement quick and confident decision making; Communicating repair needs effectively.
- Direct experience with installation and commissioning rotating equipment.
- Attention to detail and a high level of engineering acumen.
- Positive attitude and ability to exercise sound judgment in adverse field situations.
- Ability to demonstrate conceptual ideas into functional programs.
- Ability to direct work to others and conduct multiple projects/programs in parallel.
EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or applicable engineering discipline
- Industry recognized certifications (API, API SIRE, IFP, BRM, etc.) on rotating equipment preferred and/or specific rotating equipment training certificates.
- 7-10 years work experience in process industries such as refineries, petrochemical plants, manufacturing plants, etc.
