Pulsed Eddy Current (PEC) is an electromagnetic screening tool used to find degradation and defects in ferromagnetic materials. It provides a relative wall thickness measurement through non-metallic pipe corrosion.

PULSED EDDY CURRENT KEY ADVANTAGES:
- Can acquire an average wall thickness of the asset without removing the insulation or coating
- Can penetrate through most forms of insulation, including cementitious types
- Costs can be minimized or alleviated through implementing programs allowing for early detection utilizing PEC
- PEC can be applied in-service – No need to stop production
- PEC can be used on bare metal and can penetrate through 10″ of insulation
- PEC can be performed on Rope Access
PULSED EDDY CURRENT TESTING METHOD APPLICATIONS:
- Sphere legs
- Vessel skirts
- Offshore risers
- Piping near cooling towers
- Above water hull piping
- Elbows
- Columns
- Corrosion blisters/blooms
- Tanks
- Underwater/splash zones
- Marine vessels
